Dara Ashrafi ‘Kino Der Toten’ EP is now Out on Unrilis.

Italian record label Unrilis continue their Rilis series with a dark and experimental techno EP from Dara Ashrafi.

Dara Ashrafi is an American artist from Los Angeles whose style switches between hardgroove techno and minimal. Blending rhythms and sounds commonly associated with genres at the opposite end of the spectrum, Dara Ashrafi has a unique style that is both eerie and energetic.

This is Dara Ashrafi’s second time working with Unrilis as part of the Rilis series that was originally launched as a vinyl only project in the ’90s by Rino Cerrone. Many years after Rino Cerrone’s retirement from electronic music, Rilis has been relaunched to release music from likeminded artists such as A.Paul, DJ Dextro, Samuel L Session and Ritzi Lee.

“Kino Der Toten” opens the release with fast-paced percussion with punishing claps and thrashing ride cymbals that create the framework for acid synths and dark atmospherics. “Flakenfanz” has metallic percussion and a rumbling bassline combined with incremental synths and ominous vocals. “This Is The Rhythm” closes the release with twisted vocals and a lurching bassline that unfold with building intensity.
